Simple Guitar Repair 簡單電結他維修

Life was really boring during my course of Shingles recovery and I planned to pickup my aging Line 6 Variax 500 electric guitar to pass time. As the guitar had not been played for nearly two years, two of the tuners could not be tightened and the strings were out of tune shortly after few hours. Close inspection found that the plastic washer of those tuners disappeared.

休養期間生活有點百無聊賴，找來我的古董 Line 6 Variax 500 電結他消磨時間。 由于這電結他差不多有兩年没有彈過，在調音時發覺其中兩條低音絃線的 tuner 有點鬆，調好音後不到半天便走音，細看原來是 tuners 有破損，其中的膠墊圈已失掉。

Piano Restoration – Welcome Home 鋼琴大翻新 – 回家篇

The full restoration of our Yamaha U1 piano, that was sent to the workshop in last April was completed for quite a while. As I was tied up with other bits and pieces, I failed to provide a timely update on the works. So let me wrap it up in this post.

家裏的鋼琴上年四月中運回 workshop 後，翻新工作早已完成。只因其他鎖碎事情，我遲遲未有作更新，就讓我今天來個總結吧！

Piano Restoration – Part 2 鋼琴大翻新 (二)

Our Yamaha U1 piano had been delivered to the workshop for nearly one week and various components were gradually dismantled. Just received call from A. Hanna & Sons Pianos that additional issues were found by technicians and we were invited to their workshop for a discussion.

To be honest, not a good sign!

鋼琴運回 Workshop 已經差不多一星期，内部零件亦續步被拆開移除。剛收到琴行通知，維修技師發現了更多問題，邀請我們到 Workshop 看看及相討。

怕且情况並不樂觀！

Piano Restoration – Part 1 鋼琴大翻新 (一)

Just as mentioned in my previous post, our Yamaha U1 piano was about 20 years old. It was used by my boy’s cousin for her piano learning and subsequently passed to him. It carried two wonder stories of learning and development in music. From random playing with their little fingers to achieving Grade 8 certification and if possible, we would like to have the stories be continued.

正如之前的一篇説過，家中的 Yamaha U1 鋼琴已有約二十年歷史，原本是兒子表姐自小的學習伙伴。一座漆黑的鋼琴盛載着兩個音樂成長故事；由只懂亂敲琴鍵，到取得八級資歷，如果可以的話，我很希望這故事能一直延續下去。

Haven’t listened to Eric Clapton’s songs for quite a while. I believed having only his “Riding With The King” album in my iPhone is the major reason why the chance of presenting his songs under Random Play mode was so low.

Tonight, I came across Eric’s latest album through YouTube’s Ads Algorithm.

Play My Blues – Tommy Chung & The All Blues

Just like most of the people in Hong Kong, running out of space is always one of the major issues. Months ago, I decided to convert (or rip) all my Compact Discs to digital format. Over the past 30 to 40 days, I have ripped around 300+ CDs and now it came to its final stage.

又是土地問題，早前決定要把家中所有音樂CD轉成數碼檔案。經歷數十天，完成了約三佰多隻CD，今晚終於踏入尾聲。

Ever since I have got my wireless EarPods, time spent on listening to music has increased quite significantly. Without exception, this also applied to today’s family hike.

買了無線耳機後，聽歌的時間比之前多了好幾倍，今早和家人行山也當然不例外。

My friend has shared with me her first self filmed video tonight. To my surprise, she managed to present the solid contents fluently for more than 20 minutes without any preparation. Seems like this budding KOL is full of potential.

朋友今晚分享了她第一次自拍的視頻，在沒有任何事前準備下，除了內容充實外，她亦能流暢地演繹了二十多分鐘，看來這個末來 KOL 潛質真不可低估。

After a hard day’s housekeeping work, I finally sat down, picked up my guitar and played along those videos suggested by YouTube.

忙了一整天，終於可以坐下來，提起結他跟隨著 YouTube 推介的 video 一起彈奏。

Being Touched 一點感觸

Flight from Hong Kong to Taipei is quite short and roughly takes about 120 minutes. Excluding activities like takeover, meal serving and landing, actual flight time is really short.

Since my previous trip to Taiwan lasted for more than two weeks, I had to settle all those ongoing issues before the trip. Having just few hours of sleep before leaving Hong Kong, I was a little bit tired after boarding the plane. As such a short flight time made sleeping or watching a movie not really feasible, I finally decided to take a rest and listen to some music instead.

十二月往台北的航程不算太長，約120分鐘的飛行時間，減去起飛、進餐、降落等，實際剩餘時間不多。

由於這次在台逗留時間較長，很多日常雜務都要事先安排好，也因此前一天很晚才入睡。坐在早班機位上已覺有些累，想小睡但稍嫌不足看，電影又未必能看得完，最後决定合上眼聽點音樂，稍作休息吧。

週3聚樂部─羅大佑與音樂瘋子的傳奇派對

住在台北的老同學早前在面書上分享了羅大佑與音樂瘋子的傳奇派對音樂會。這個由羅大佑和王治平携手合作的Live Show，除了讓大家回味他過往的作品外，也提供一個平台給年輕樂團和樂手作表演。音樂會安排在每月最後的一個星期三晚上。

碰巧十二月份的表演日子，我和其他舊同學一行三人仍在台北，當然不想錯過這難得的機會。

This is my first electric guitar bought on Christmas of 1988. It is a Yamaha RGX612S and is one of those “Superstrats” that are extremely popular at that time.
