Actual Ride
Instead of riding from Tai Wai, I started my solo ride from FoTan where my bike was kept. I also met some of my cycling buddies at the bike shop and they were having the regular exercise too.
The weather is not good today. No bright sunshine, only grey sky and gust of strong wind to accompany my ride.
Shing Mun River Promenade and Jockey Club Shatin Race Course (On the opposite side of the river).
The famous “Twin bridge” where a lot of cyclists and joggers gathered for a break or taking their selfie.
The Science Park and the Pak Shek Kok Promenade.
Tolo Harbour Cycling Path – With stunning view for fun ride and also a straight stretch of 5 Km for high-speed sprinting.
After the sprinting, you will come to the Ting Kok Road, a narrow cycling path with dual-lane traffic and quite a number of pedestrians walking along.
Some official declared monuments built by Hakka villagers in the ’30s.
You will also have a chance to meet some of the Hong Kong Cycling team members as well. In fact, we are short of formal training ground for them.
Within 15 minutes, you will arrive at today’s destination, Tai Mei Tuk.
Going to Tai Mei Tuk without a visit to the main dam of the Plover Cove Reservoir cannot be considered as a completed trip.
Plover Cove Reservoir is the second largest reservoir in Hong Kong. It’s two Kilometers long main dam is an excellent place for riding as well as to enjoy the scenery of the Tolo Harbour.
Here we go.
One more point to note: beware of those four-wheels drives. 🤣🤣
Time for lunch today and some local spending. A simple meal with a peaceful atmosphere.
On my return trip, I intentionally took on a different route after Ting Kok Road and going through the Taipo Industrial Area to visit the Taipo Waterfront Park.
Summary for today’s ride.
Finally, a 3-D summary generated with Relive.
BTW, the feature image at the front of this post is the road to Luk Keng, another famous place for road climbing. I may also revisit this place later on.
Thanks for your detailed info! I would like to start a bike trip near Ravana Garden/Garden Vista area. Are there any bike rental shops there, if so, how early do they open? I see a picture of yours show a bunch of share bikes, are they available in this area? Thank you!
Just like in other countries, the shared bikes business is now nearly coming to its end. May be you can find one or two along areas closed to the Ravana Garden but probably those are either inoperative or in very poor condition. I suggest you to rent the bike from YY Bike (悠遊單車) at FoTan (火炭). Visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/YYBike/ for details on the location and opening hours. BTW, they are closed on every Wednesday. Happy riding. 🙏
